I was born during the winter of 1979 in the industrial landscapes of the north-west Midlands. I currently live in Sheffield and attend the University of Huddersfield.
I'm a (disillusioned) socialist and a vegetarian.
I rather like: Derek Jarman, Quentin Crisp, Joan Crawford, Christopher Isherwood, Dusty Springfield, Jonathan Ames, Electronic Music, the early films of John Carpenter, Brideshead Revisted, and British modernism.
Saint Etienne and Paul Kelly’s How We Used to Live
I saw this at the Crucible last night with the score performed live by Saint Etienne. It was something of a double treat for me being a big fan of both Saint Etienne and post-war architecture, which the film is chocked with. The film is atmospheric, evocative and flows delightfully, and I must add the choice of Ian McShane as narrator was inspired!
