Sebastien Wright

Under the Starry Stillness is a photographic diary of sorts: each post is relevant to the day it is posted.

I have a tumblr celebrating the atomic age, post-war architecture, and hauntology here: The Chemistry Set

I write quiet music and release it through Make Mine Music

I was born during the winter of 1979 in the industrial landscapes of the West Midlands. I currently live in Sheffield and study Biochemistry at the University of Huddersfield.

I'm a (disillusioned) socialist and a vegetarian.

I rather like: post-war architecture, modernism, hauntology, and electronic music.

A postcard I received this morning from a friend holidaying in Cornwall. It shows Cornwall Technical College in Redruth. (If I recall correctly it is now known as the Camborne campus of Cornwall College.)
When I stayed in Portreath a few years ago I remember the Tamar building (the lovely exposed concrete building in the centre of the picture) was often visible above the trees on trips to Redruth or Camborne. I’d meant on several occasions to visit and photograph it—I never got around to it. I did think, however, there would be plenty of photographs on the internet, unfortunately there were not. So I’m doubly glad to have received this wonderful picture.
